  At Ascension of Our Lord, faculty, staff, students and parents work and pray hard to put faith into action. Teachers weave Catholic teaching into the curriculum and instruction of all subjects on a daily basis. Some of the many elements that are weaved into the spiritual formation of students are:
  
  Sacrament of Reconciliation Avent and Lent
  
  Stations of the Cross during Lent

  Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
  
  Retreats for 6 & 7th graders
  
  Faculty and Staff Retreat

  7th Grade Adoption of the PreBorn
  
  Daily Prayer-the Morning Offering, Grace Before Meals, The Angelus, and Act of Contrition at the end of the day.

  Family Catechesis is a Religious Education Program in which parents fully participate in the faith formation of their children. Parents are the primary teachers of faith. For this reason, it is important to work together with parents in forming disciples.
  
  Family Catechesis
  Ascension of Our Lord Church Parish is transitioning to a Family Catechesis Program for teaching religion to kindergarten through 12th graders not in a parochial school.
  
  What is the goal and mission of family catechesis?
  Help families learn how to pray and to discuss their faith.
  Help parents better understand their role as primary catechists.
  Bring families together in order to share and deepen their Catholic faith.
  Strengthen the relationship between the family and the Church.
  Establish ongoing Catholic faith practices within family life.
  Integrate the family into the parish community.
  
  What are the benefits of family catechesis?
  Provides a way to teach, model, and demonstrate family faith practices.
  Provides the resources for families to live Christian practices at home.
  Eases the transfer of learning to the home because the whole family experiences the learning and practices together.
  Builds up the confidence and ability of parents to share faith and values with their children by providing parent education, resources, support, and encouragement.
  
  The family catechesis’ responsibility includes the following:
  Enrolling your children in a formal Family Catechesis program
  Ensuring attendance at monthly Family Catechesis classes
  Family worship at Mass every Sunday
  
  Babysitting is available for any child under the Kindergarten age. When registering your child and you have child that is in the babysitting range, please register them as well and select babysitting under the school grade option.
  
  Family Catechesis: K – High School
  Our Family Catechesis program allows families to discover God through creative activities and promote a Catholic identity. First Monday of the month sessions will be held for the families from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. There will be dinner then breakout sessions. Families will attend once a month family Mass (First Sunday of the month).
  
  Sacramental Prep (First Reconciliation & First Communion)
  This program is for children who will make their First Communion (two-year process that begins in 1st grade). On the 2nd Monday of the month, sessions will be held for the children from 6:00pm to 7:15pm. Families will attend once a month family Mass (1st Sunday of the month). We will also have parent/child retreats for the preparation of First Reconciliation and for the preparation of First Holy Communion. To register you child for First Communion Prep, click here. Children registered in First Communion Prep must be registered in the Family Catechesis Program or attend a Catholic school.
